We had Andrea's Dad's 70th Bday bash in Medicine Hat, so we all headed South for a few days. We didn't end up seeing Andrea's side of the family at Christmas, so it was a bday trip, a visit trip, and our 4th (or 5th) Christmas all rolled into one. The girls were super happy to see everyone....the Grandparents, the cousins, etc.......there were just a good number of folks that we all haven't seen in quite some time. Russ's party was a success......somewhat of a surprise (he knew something was going, but didn't know that there would be 50ish folks there). Lots of laughs, and it was great to just have an evening with the crew. Thanks to everyone for letting us take over their homes, and letting the girls run free.....never an easy thing!
Back in FMM, the weather has finally broken.....we've had some VERY cold days, lots of snow, and just no chance of spending time outdoors with the girls. Well, we were greeted Sunday morning to +2 degC, definitely tobogganing weather! We all headed a few block from the house to a small hill, where everyone had a great time. Kate made her first ever trips alone on the toboggan, and Lauren just loved cruising down the hill. No major wipeouts, and it ended with a bit of a surprise blizzard! Not a bad day at all.
Lauren is REALLY changing these days.....with her older sister around to lead her, she seems to be getting older very quickly. She wants to do everything that Kate is doing, and wants nothing to do with "being a baby". She will no longer sit in her high chair - we have now packed that away. And today, we took down her crib and put her new mattress down on the floor to get her used to a "big girl bed". Kate was quite excited about it, as it's low to the ground, so they both spent a fair bit of time jumping around on it! She has also begun potty training herself.......I would estimate at least 20 times she says "I pee....I pee", we put her on the potty , and she goes. Likely a LONG way to go before it's complete, but she's definitely initiating a lot of the changes herself.
Other than that, things are just busy. There are Saturday morning swimming lessons, Monday morning skating lessons, and a whole pile of other things in between that fill the days. Hope everyone had a great Christmas season, and are doing well as 2011 begins!
The Coswans.
