Christmas 2010

We all must have been better than we anticipated, because Santa definitely found his way to the Coswan household this year. Kate was extremely excited about the whole event, and Lauren was excited because Kate was excited, so we had two willing participants for gift opening to say the least! We also had my brother Corey make his way up here for Christmas, so that was a great deal for all of us. Not to say it was uneventful, as he had a flat tire on the way up Christmas Eve, ended up putting on a pile of extra miles to get another tire, to only find out that he had picked up the wrong tire. Thankfully, our old family friend Lauren Schesnuk owns a garage, and was able to loan Corey a vehicle until he could get the tire fixed (That's my Schesnuk's Motor Sales plug for the day.....also the spot I had my first "official" job, so if you need a Toyota, call Lauren!). Probably the best part of the whole flat tire deal was that it was quite cold, and while Corey was changing the tire he was kneeling down on the pavement, and didn't notice that he had totally frostbitten his knee. When we all went for a hot tub, he was somewhat shocked at his black knee.

Anyhow, Christmas was great, except for everyone (but me) being sick. Andrea had a cold for a few weeks that just wouldn't leave, then she gave it to Kate, who gave it to Lauren, who gave it to Uncle Corey, who in turn gave it back to Andrea. My thoughts are the rum I was drinking killed any bugs that tried to enter my system. But the girls got to open a couple gifts Christmas Eve, one was matching pj's, and they each got to pick one from Uncle Corey. Kate hit the jackpot, with a pull behind Slinky Dog toy from Toy Story, but Lauren got shafted with an Ernie (Sesame Street) doll. She absolutely wanted NOTHING to do with the doll. In fact, when she opened it up, she tried putting it back into the box, hollering "Back, Back". Too funny........she eventually warmed up a bit to him, but we still bug Corey about that one.

We woke up Christmas day.....well........most of us woke up at 8am, but Kate had to be woken up at 9am. The stockings were first on the "to do" list, and lots of standard stocking stuffer gear was found. Once we got thru the stocking, we sat down to home made pancakes, sausage, coffee, and latte's. Then it was back to the gifts.......a highlight being the girls doll house from Santa. It has to be about 4 feet tall, and they were greeted to it being wrapped in the corner, awaiting their excited, paper tearing hands. Andrea hauled in a new coat and some new Ping 3/5 woods, and I got a new camera and some personal trainer sessions......2011 HAS to be the year to get back into some sort of shape. We'll see.......

The rest of the morning was spent lazing around, then we headed to the Ndegwa's for a Christmas dinner. We were treated to some appies, lots of great beverages, and an amazing turkey dinner. Doug was apparently upset that he would not be getting his standard homemade pumpkin pie from his sister for Christmas, so Kate and I pulled out the recipe book and created one for him. It was our first attempt at pie, and the reviews were VERY, VERY good......I would label it a full success. Even had the fresh whipping cream to top it off with.

That is about it for our Christmas 2010. We wish everyone a happy, safe, and successful 2011, and please keep in touch!

  1. I LOVE the picture of Lauren and Ernie on the couch. Too funny! Tell Kate that Evan got a Slinky Dog too. He puts his Hot Wheels car in the slinky spring & says they are in the forcefield. Guess he was paying attention during Toy Story 3.

We missed you all this year & I hope that you come visit soon!
