Granny & The Cousins Arrive........

Last week (or was it the week before?) Andrea's Mom (aka Granny) and her niece/nephew arrived for a week long visit. The flight was a gift from Granny and Jim to the kids for Xmas, and we did our best to make their week entertaining. We were hit with our first real poor week of weather - not too much heat, and a few days of rain, but we still got out and about, and the kids spent HOURS in the back yard. I guess we can blame Granny for bringing the cold/rain from Waterton........

But, as always happens, when Kate and Lauren's cousins arrive, everyone else is banished from being with them. When Andrea would set the kids up in the basement, Kate would quickly say "No Mommy....you go upstairs with Granny and let us play". Which really isn't that bad a thing, when you've got a 14 and a 10 year old that want to hang with the kids, we're more than happy to hang elsewhere.

Highlights of the week were me playing in my Club Championship Golf Tournament (and playing like crap), touring the Oilsands Interpretive Center, being teased by Mac Island's new pool (one of the largest in Western Canada, but not....quite....open), hours in the bouncy castle/play structure out back, and Kallen and I tearing up the bike trails. As always when we have guests, the extra hands are MUCH appreciated, and it was excellent having Granny AND the cousins all here for the week. Needless to say, Kate shed a fair number of tears when they left (as did Andrea)......

I'll close with one of Kate's GREAT new lines (honest....she does not get this from me). Andrea put Kate to bed the other day, and as she finished reading books, Kate said "Mommy, you go back to the kitchen where you belong, you clean up, then you go to bed". I would be scared to say anything like that, but she can get away with it!!!
