Birthday Updates.....Visitors....and Lauren's First Steps!!!

This week was a big one up in FMM......we had Granny and Jim up for the week, as well as Kate's official birthday party. Having some extra hands around the house is always very welcome, and the kids LOVE Granny and Jim.

For some reason, Kate bonds with Jim, and comes up with many, many great lines while "smothering him". For instance, they had just arrived, and were taking their bags downstairs.......but Kate was wondering where Jim had gone. She came running around the hallway hollering "Jim....where are you.....Jimmy....Jimmy......Jimmy". Good stuff.

It also marked Jim and Jenn's 11th Anniversary, and as a gift, we bought them a flight over the FMM area......we toured over town and a couple Oilsands sites. Definitely a different view from the air, and as an added bonus to Jim and Jenn, I got to fly the plane back from Syncrude (about a half hour flight). Did very well....the pilot was questioning if it really was the first time I've flown, but it was my maiden voyage.

Saturday was then the big BDay bash.....we had some of our neighbors over for the bash, along with our friends the Ndegwa's and the Kennedy's. We had the bouncy castle set up in the back yard, along with the play structure, so the back yard was pretty much the kids zone. All in all, not too many injuries were reported, and the home made burgers went over very well. Thanks to all for attending, and for the gifts.....Kate had a GREAT day!
...ready to get at it...where is everyone?

The Goods.....

Then Sunday was Mothers Day......so breakfast with waffles and bacon was enjoyed, along with some latte's. Then Andrea and her Mom took the girls to the park for a while, so Jim and I could get the smoker going for the Mothers Day Dinner....nothing says Mothers Day like smoked ribs, chicken, and sausage, right? Dinner was EXCELLENT, and some great wine was enjoyed along with it. But the true highlight of the day was Lauren. She has gone from crawling to being a "knee walker".....in that she sit up on her knees and walks around. Only one or two steps here and there, but that's it. Then, while Andrea was wrapping her Mom's present, Lauren looked at her from across the living room, stood up, and walked to her (about 8 or 9 steps). Since that point, she's been walking everywhere, and getting pretty good at it! I thought the bike we'd gotten Andrea would be the gift of the day, but Lauren showed us up!
Look at me Mom!!!!
